Dental Extractions
Removal of a tooth or teeth is performed for several reasons including:
- serious tooth decay
- impacted or problematic wisdom teeth
- orthodontic treatment
Wisdom teeth extractions are often performed because of pain, swelling, decay or infection or as a preventative measure to avoid future complications.
Panoramic X-rays will be taken to evaluate the wisdom teeth and patients will require a consult in order to determine a treatment plan. Wisdom teeth removal is generally performed under local anesthesia, intravenous (IV) sedation or general anesthesia. After the surgery, patients receive post-operative instructions and medication to help manage any swelling or discomfort. A post-operative appointment will also be booked.
